MLB Speedway Classic Between Braves and Reds at Bristol Motor Speedway Resumes

A record crowd showed up for a regular-season Major League Baseball game, ready to experience all the excitement of the MLB Speedway Classic. Unfortunately, the game was cut short due to rain, with play halted in the bottom of the first inning.

Fans returning on Sunday were eager to see the Atlanta Braves and Cincinnati Reds play. Despite overcast skies, it was dry at Bristol Motor Speedway. For fans, the trip back to Bristol Motor Speedway—dubbed “The Last Great Colosseum” due to its history as a half-mile bullring racetrack—was easier for some than for others. MLB is expected to announce an attendance figure later on Sunday. Officials were already aware that this event would attract a record crowd, with 85,000 tickets sold as of Monday.
